Laying of the Foundation Stone
On 28 February 2007, the parliament of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg voted in favour of building the Elbphilharmonie. On 2 April 2007, the foundation stone was laid.

Elbphilharmonie Open Air
In 2011 the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg invites its guests to the HafenCity for a whole weekend to experience the Elbphilharmonie Open Air.
Human Requiem
In 2012, the Hamburg Theater Festival staged a spectacular festive opening on the plaza of the Elbphilharmonie with Brahms's major choral work "Ein deutsches Requiem".

re-rite. You are the Orchestra!
In May 2013 the multimediale performance »re-rite. You are the orchestra!" took place in the Kaispeicher. 29 cameras filmed the Philharmonia Orchestra London performing under its chief executive Esa-Pekka Salonen.
The concert programm 16/17
In April 2016 the Elbphilharmonie presented the first season's concert program in the new house's car park. Program highlights could be admired as street art works.
