Brundyn is a passionate advocate of modern and contemporary African art. One figure who as provided inspiration throughout her career is the self-taught Malian photographer Seydou Keïta.

“There is sheer joy to be found in a Keïta studio portrait: the combination of the innovative and competent technical aspects of light, framing and composition; the fascination of the subject at hand; the costumes, the props, the accessories, the pose and the smiles."
"All of these seem like clues to unravel the story of the character and his little one. These images also remind me a little of the Corona lockdown portraits I see on social media, family portraits using fabric backdrops and intimate spaces.”
“Keïta primarily worked with daylight and for economic reasons only took a single shot for each picture. These peepholes into Bamako society lift my spirits and keep my attention. Such beauty in a smile and a Jacquard bedspread!”
