Urban Myths - Calle Libre Festival 2014
During the festival's first edition, we worked with different cultural institutions on the banks of the Danube Canal, one of the most famous graffiti hotspot in Vienna.
Danube Canal
The "Donaukanal" in Vienna is already a living myth and the secretly chosen “Hall of Fame” for urban artists. It is an internationally known open- air museum for street art and for this reason it has been used by Calle Libre.

Live Paintings
We wanted to strengthen the role of the surfaces along the Donaukanal as a livelyartistic and cultural space. In order to create a dialogue with the residents of Vienna, people were invited to join the painting process and get together with other culture-lovers and artists.

Knarf
Vienna-based Knarf defies traditional graffiti writing with unique black-and-white abstracts. Knarf often uses glyphs and geometry to inspire individual interpretations.
Marina Zumi is a pioneering female street artist from Buenos Aires who draws dreamlike outer space landscapes inspired by nature. Her large murals encourage viewers to pause and contemplate. Nychos, from Austria, creates anatomically precise art featuring animals, pop culture objects and famous figures. He runs an art space named Rabbit Eye Movement in Vienna, but now lives and works in Los Angeles.
Austrian Chinagirl Tile creates 3D political tile art & ironic drones. German Loomit is a pioneer with innovative lettering, Croatian Lunar is known for comic cat signature & corporate collabs.

Akuma Santos, one of Rio's graffiti pioneers, creates photorealistic murals using symbols to address social issues. His art extends beyond graffiti, featuring sculptural elements.

Calle Libre is a non-profit association dedicated to bringing street art and various forms of art into urban spaces. We encourage dialogue amongst the public and a variety of artists with the help of art interventions.
