Dear friends of art!

In this Google Arts & Culture collection, you will experience the "Staunenswerte" - Saxony-Anhalt's inspiring heritage sites. This is the name we have recently been using to advertise the World Heritage Sites in Saxony-Anhalt - our cultural beacons! It fills us with pride that we have a unique density of testimonies to German and European history in our state.

The sites and objects of the UNESCO World Heritage are of universal appeal and formative for the identity of Saxony-Anhalt. Global and world-changing ideas had their origin here. These ideas equally influenced the eras of the Bronze Age, the Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Enlightenment and modernity.

In the future, we want to make even more of an impact with the significant assets of our world heritage sites. Our goal is to make these treasures in the center of Germany better known internationally. Art lovers and cultural tourists from all over the world are invited to come and see the inspiring heritage sites and be immersed in the epochs of past centuries.
