Throughout her career, Frances Morris has been consistently recognised for championing the under-appreciated contributions of women in the ongoing transformation of contemporary art. Her advocacy of the commercial, intellectual and artistic value of female artists is reflected in many of the challenges – and, importantly, triumphs – experienced by Morris during her own professional development. Now commencing her fifth year as Director of the Tate Modern in London, Morris works tirelessly to balance the acquisition and curation policies of the Tate, leading the institution to be proactive about “filling gaps” in the cultural milieu of contemporary art worldwide.
