'Poetry of Time', the timelessly recorded moments of a master, Kim Whanki

This media art was a reinterpretation of the eternal time and sculptural poetry that Kim Whanki sought to capture through his works. It began with the contemplative explorations of connections and relationships. Within three chapters, a total of nine representative works from different periods of Kim Whanki's career were used to depict his philosophy and journey in reverse chronological order.

Chapter 1.  A Single Dot – The Beginning of the Universe

The introduction expressed the space-time formed by countless dots radiated from a single dot, inspired by Kim Whanki’s later all-over dot paintings that explored connections and relationships.

Chapter 3. A Heart Within Dots – Pure Love and Yearning

The final chapter portrayed a world of harmony and purity by intuitively presenting works that sensorially expressed the essence of relationships.

'Poetry of Time' began with Kim Whanki's late-period work 'Duet' which was deeply rooted in the exploration of connections and relationships and concluded with his early piece 'Sacred Heart' expressing his longing for his deceased mother. This journey invited audiences to discover the master's message on connection and harmony.

Chapter 1. The Part and Whole – Harmony of Units

Chapter 1 began with the geometric movement of dots, lines and planes– the fundamental elements of all forms to reveal the beauty of DDP, which was composed of 45,133 organically arranged panels. Like a fractal infinitely expanding, the introduction embodied both the organic harmony of the units that formed the whole and the identity of DDP.
