Mapped out by the placement of SMoA’s museum labels, Dans la Rue guides visitors around the back alleys and side streets of Montréal to highlight the work of 12 local artists — Bfour, Gawd, Labrona, Listen Bird, Omen, Produkt, Rage5, Scaner, Stikki Peaches, Waxhead, WIA (aka whatisadam) and Wzrds Gang.

After MURAL Festival transformed Saint-Laurent Boulevard with a series of commissioned murals, Dans la Rue: Montréal takes visitors through the neighborhood once again to rediscover what was already there.

Including only the work of local artists — this exhibition celebrates the fleeting, subversive and DIY nature of the street art and graffiti movements.

While the work may vary in medium — from spray paint and wheat pastes to installations and even wax drawings — the execution is the same. Each piece was placed on the street, for the public, without permission, transforming the neighborhood into the artists’ very own outdoor gallery.
