Bunka Fashion College and Japanese fashion
The beginnings of Bunka Fashion College can be traced back to Namiki Women's and Children's Dressmaking Shop, which included a women's and children's dressmaking school, established in 1919 in Aoyama, Tokyo. In 1923, it became Japan’s first certified dressmaking school. Some 300,000 students have graduated from the school since it opened its doors, including fashion designers who have gone on to become global success stories, such as Yohji Yamamoto and Junya Watanabe.
