It's a summer day in Rome

A young visitor gets off the city's beaten track to visit the art collection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the so-called Farnesina.

The Farnesina Collection hosts artworks from Italian contemporary artists, as well as commissioned mosaics, murals and statues that enriched the original 1930s architectural project.

The art collection was started in the early 2000s and it includes representatives of the Italian contemporary art, from Martini to Sironi, Accardi... and different movements and art forms: Arte Povera, Forma 1 Group, Informal art, Optical art, photography and illustration.

For over 20 years, the collection has proven crucial to showcase of the history of Italian contemporary art internationally, as artworks travel to Italian Embassies abroad, and locally, for everyone who wishes to visit the Farnesina Palace.
