Also known as Tai Khamptis, they migrated from Burma in the mid 1700s. The word Khampti means a land full of gold. They have their own script, traditions of paper and ink making, and slow cooking of fish soup called Pasa, a local delicacy!

Taste their fish soup delicay - Pasa! They clean and cut the fresh fish, chop and grind it with a long knife, mix different kinds of local herbs, and pound the mixture for hours to smoothen the paste. Water is then added, stirred well and strained to get the soup.
