Thai Malays has rich, unique, and charming cultures in terms of clothing, language, and lifestyle.
Intricately associated and accustomed to the Thai Malay culture, female artist Kusafiyah Nibuesa aspires to tell her stories through visual art and a variety of techniques:
Printmaking, accentuating paper textures, weaving, perforating to create patterns, and particular color selection.
The artist forms different textures to accent the realistic aspects of each object before assembling each piece together as a shape to tell stories.
Tea drinking is one of the traditions found in this local community as people gather for conversations in the morning, demonstrating close-knitted relationships within the group.
Although done by high relief paper assembling, the work perfectly maintains its genuine painting.
Using leading lines, sizes, featured people, and colors, distinct dimensions in the front, middle, and back are illustrated realistically.
Even as for the intricate details of the fabric and local costumes, the characteristics of Thai Malays are clearly represented.
The beautiful atmosphere in which lives, stories, people, and objects exist, is created through the patterns and process, incorporating various techniques to bring forth the simplistic beauty in the community which is still relevant until today.
