The exhibition celebrates the figure of the cabinetmaker of German origin, active in Paris during the period of Louis XV, with a significant number of artifacts that testify to the predilection of the courts of Europe for French decorative art.

For this prestigious event, the Presidency of the Republic has lent an elegant commode, a pair of corner cabinets and a precious clock, which are part of the collection of 18th century French furniture.

These sculptural furnishings were made by Latz on commission from Louise-Elizabeth, daughter of King Louis XV and wife of Philip of Bourbon, Duke of Parma.

Before entering the Quirinale collections, they furnished the rooms of the ducal palaces of Parma and Colorno.

The exchange

For the entire duration of the exhibition, the Kunstgewerbemuseum has lent, in turn, to the Presidency of the Republic an elegant chest of drawers of German manufacture dating back to the mid-18th century, which has taken the place of the Latz commode.

Visitors to the Quirinale will have the opportunity to admire it in the Imperial Apartments.
