The Art of Preservation
Within the mission of the Cimbrateca Project to preserve the unique centering of Edward James' garden

From 2007 onwards, the garden has been under the administration of the Pedro and Elena Hernández Foundation, which has since worked to restore and preserve Edward James's legacy in Xilitla.

In 2010, the World Monument Fund, in collaboration with Friends of Heritage Preservation, restored the Edward James Cabin and the structure known as the Three-Story House, which could be five stories.

In 2016, with Frida Mateos in charge of the restoration processes, the Pedro and Elena Foundation began the work of compiling the Gastélum Collection, which includes the collection of formwork, a photographic record and a documentary archive.

In 2022, the Pedro and Elena Hernández Foundation, with funding from the Art and Culture Development Program (DAC) of CitiBanamex, created the Cimbrateca project with the mission of restoring the formwork that until then was stored in the old mold warehouse.

La colección de moldes comprende 372 piezas distintas que a su vez se subdividen en 571 elementos individuales. Durante la primera etapa del proyecto se elaboraron fichas clínicas que contienen las características del estado de conservación de cada uno de los moldes.

Since 2016, the Foundation has designated the space called Cimbrateca, which has the necessary measures to safeguard the collection of formwork.
