Maiden Castle in Dorset is an Iron-Age hill fort, a fortified hill-top settlement, dating back to 600 BCE. It is thought to have been abandoned after the Roman conquest of Britain in 1st century CE.

The ruins of Rievaulx Abbey in North Yorkshire, England look striking covered in a layer of fresh snow. The site was a Cistercian monastery, founded in 1132.

9. Bagan, Myanmar


Located in central Myanmar, Bagan is an ancient city made up of over 2,000 Buddhist monuments rising up out of the greenery. It was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries.

10. Christ The Redeemer, Brazil


Overlooking the Rio de Janeiro harbor in Brazil is the Christ the Redeemer statue. It was designed by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by the Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa in 1922.
