The Church of Brides
The Basilica of San Celso and its bell tower hold a special place in the heart of Milan's natives and visitors alike, partly because of the centuries-old tradition that saw newly married girls carry their bouquet under the bell tower to bring them good luck for a happy marriage: it is no surprise that this church is known as the "Church of Brides". The name "Bell Tower of Sighs" is dedicated to the hopeful sighs of these brides, but also to the saints, soldiers and worshippers who have passed beneath the tower over the centuries.
