Built in 1883 as the ceremonial palace of the Sultan Barghash, today it houses the House of Wonders Museum, highlighting the history of the East African coast and the maritime world of the Indian Ocean.

Arriving from the ocean at this spot on the coast of Oman, near Dhalkut, Rehema would face a 100 km trek inland to the neolithic site of Aybut Al Auwal. This sites Nubian Complex, where stone cutting tools were flaked for centuries, is believed by some scientists to be evidence of very early migration out of Africa through the Arabian Peninsula.
