All City Canvas
All City Canvas
All City Canvas started in 2012, inspired by the Mexican muralist movement, as one of the most important urban festivals in the world in Mexico City. All City Canvas has evolved in its way of spreading its message and currently it is one of the most influential street culture platforms. Mural No. 3 - Artist: Saner - Place: Mexico City - Year: 2012
The artist
Saner is a graphic designer who began experimenting with graffiti while working at an advertising agency, until he decided to switch to visual arts. Thanks to this extensive training and having been exposed since childhood to pop culture, Saner belongs to a generation of interdisciplinary artists that roam comfortably without prejudice between art, graffiti, graphic design, painting and drawing.

The mural
Four characters form a ladder, with the final character stretching his arms to reach the heart located at the top of the mural. We see a miner, a man holding a corn and a book inscribed with "Liberty, Fraternity and Equality". All characters wear traditional masks and the smallest one is sitting on the "U" in hotel's logo. It is a skeleton wearing an eagle mask with its hands stretched out as if it's cheering them on or controlling the actions like a puppeteer.

For its narrative, the mural can be interpreted as the proletariat structure, or in a more romantic perspective, as a representation of the Nation acting with a common purpose.
