Time, gestures and rituals

This exhibition aims to explore the embeddedness of different notions of time—archaeological, ecological and colonial. Through poetic and concrete gestures, artists explore questions about how we understand the contemporary  world through past lives

Lais Myrrha, 'Política de Varanda' (2024-03-05) by Lais MyrrhaCollegium

Site-specific installations: Lais Myrrha

With Política de Varanda, Myrrha merges modernist patterns by Athos Bulcão with the 16th-century Spanish chapel's arches at Iglesia de San Martín. Using industrial materials, she blends Oscar Niemeyer's Brasilia with historical Spanish architecture.

Koushna Navabi, 'Woman, Life, Freedom' (2024-03-05) by Koushna NavabiCollegium

In 2023, Navabi launched Artists for Woman Life Freedom to honor Mahsa Jina Amini and advocate for Iranian women's rights. Alongside other artists, Navabi created posters with the slogan 'Woman, Life, Freedom,' displayed several different cities and now Arévalo.

Pedro Barateiro, 'My body, this paper, this fire' (2024-03-05) by Pedro BarateiroCollegium

Pedro Barateiro's performance

My Body, This Paper, This Fire is a performance with starting point at the 1994 student demonstration in Lisbon. It explores individual and collective roles, emphasizing touch and care amidst dystopian scenarios. It was performed during the opening events.
