History
In February 2022, the Senate inaugurated a memorial in honor of the approximately 710,000 people who lost their lives to Covid-19 in Brazil.
The Memorial is located in the Senate itself, at the top of the Petrônio Portella Auditorium

Construction
Made up of structures that resemble lighted candles, the Memorial was designed to make the public reflect on this sad episode in world history. It also aims to show solidarity with friends and relatives of the dead.

The work, made up of 27 white marble prisms that symbolize the states and the Federal District, was designed by two Senate architects.

The monument has been designed to allow visitors to move between the sculptures.
