Ellie Perry's sustainable design 'Terracooler' uses the natural properties of terracotta, all you have to do to keep your food cool is water it. The sustainable design is a modern take on the ‘zeer pot’; an ancient method of cooling food that dates back to 3000BC.

The hollow handles of 'Terracooler', the natural food cooler, allow the user to pick each unit up, whilst providing a spout for the water to be poured through. The porosity of the terracotta absorbs the water, cooling the food as it evaporates.

'Terracooler' designed by Ellie Perry, not only reduces energy consumption for food that should not be stored in a fridge, but makes the user more aware of food storage and less likely to let good produce go to waste.

"Since graduating I now work for my own ceramics practice, I have a studio in south London where I create functional ceramic tableware. I am also working on sustainable ceramics, where I have been developing glazes made from industrial waste to reduce the environmental impact."

"Since exhibiting my graduation project 'Terracooler', I have had great feedback and a lot of interest in purchasing one, so since then I have been working on getting it into production so that I can manufacture and sell them."
