Western art shares the stories of the cowboy, the vaquero, Native Americans, and the vast beauty of the Western landscape through drawings, sketches, paintings, and sculptures.
As the culture shifts, so does our interpretation of Western art, but the stories remain the same.
Through the preservation of the art, history, and culture of the American West, the Briscoe Western Art Museum inspires and educates the public with engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and public events reflective of the region’s rich traditions and shared heritage.
The Briscoe Western Art Museum values honesty, fairness, and transparency with our stakeholders, colleagues and members of the community, and strive for the highest level of excellence.
We value mutual respect in our relationships with stakeholders, staff, and the community at large as well as with the art and artifacts under our stewardship.
We value creativity in the art and culture of the American West as demonstrated in our collections, programs, and exhibitions.
We value leadership and will demonstrate the highest standards and best practices with all professional endeavors — both internally as an institutions and in our personal relationships with the community.
