The Giga-Hertz Award distinguishes renowned composers for their lifetime achievement.The Giga-Hertz Production Awards serve the initiation and promotion of new projects, which are realized during a residence and are aimed at sound artists and composers.

The Giga-Hertz Award exists since 2007. International artists like Pierre Boulez, John Chowning, Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson or Pierre Henry have received the award in the past. It is the aim of the Giga-Hertz-Award to foster the innovative creativity in the field of digital music.
