Limeira and the Revolution
The city actively participated in the Constitutionalist Movement of 1932, sending around 300 volunteers in defense of a new Constitution, working in various sectors.

Major Jose Levy Sobrinho
President of the Enlistment Commission, Major José Levy Sobrinho (1884-1957) commanded the Limeirense Battalion in 1932.
Born in Limeira and son of German immigrants Simão and Ana Quintus Levy, who arrived at Fazenda Ibicaba in 1857, he held several political positions in Limeira. He was president of the Municipal Directory of the São Paulo Republican Party, Justice of the Peace and alternate Delegate.

The Coronel Flamínio Ferreira de Camargo School Group was chosen as the headquarters for Enlistment and Public Assistance
On July 18, 1932, Bulletin No. 1 was published at the headquarters of the Coronel Flamínio Ferreira de Camargo School Group, which dealt with the organization of a patriotic battalion and assistance to the needy families of those who had come forward to fight for São Paulo.
Major José Levy Sobrinho was in charge of organizing the battalion, chairing the Enlistment Committee. The Donation Raising Committee was chaired by Mrs. Maria Thereza S. de Barros Camargo. In the other sectors, the Investigation Committee was chaired by Dr. Francisco Ferreira da Rosa, the Volunteer Assistance Committee by Dr. Humberto Levy, and the Uniform Committee was chaired by Dr. Octavio L. Castello Branco.

After enlisting at the Grupo Escolar headquarters, the volunteers left by train for Campinas to receive training and join other battalions.

At that time, Limeira was known as the Capital of Orange, and for this reason, they carried on their uniforms the Flag with the image of the orange, followed by the name of the city. During the Armed Movement, the volunteers from Limeira became known as "laranjinhas".

Sergeant Pierrotti
On July 13, 1932, Alberto Pierrotti presented himself to the authorities in Limeira, ready to fight. Sent to São Paulo, he was assigned to the 3rd Platoon of the First Company of the 1st Reserve Hunters Battalion.
The first battles in the Northern Sector took place in Queluz and the Pedro de Moraes farm. From Queluz to Areias, from Areias to Silveiras, so that Sergeant Pierrotti accompanied his battalion in all the battles fought on that front.

"On September 9, a burst of machine gun fire knocked him down, killing him instantly." (Biajone, 2017, p.214).

Buried in Silveiras, his body was later transferred to Limeira, his hometown.
Newspaper - The Limeirense
The print media followed the commotion and mobilization to honor the first volunteer from Limeira who died in combat in 1932, from the call-up of former combatants from Limeira to the inauguration of the Obelisk in memory of Sergeant Alberto Pierroti, located in front of the Cemetery to this day.

Currently, the obelisk, where the body of Sergeant Pierroti is buried, is the site of an annual ceremony on July 9th, the date of the beginning of the 1932 Revolution.
