Kenka

Kenka Consecration of Flowers" was Mikami Kayo's debut work and the flagship performance of Torifune Butohsha. This 1992 work is based on the motif of Suzuki Izumi, a writer and friend who died by suicide leaving behind a young child. The choreographic composition follows Hijikata's method, and each choreography has its own established language. In particular, the "Hyakusei" part of the work was composed entirely from Hijikata's Butoh score.
