Light, Shadow and Reflection No.9 (2011) by Chutchawan WannapoArt Centre Silpakorn University
Although ordinary surroundings may seem trivial to many, those who are artistic are more inclined to be more attentive to little details and use them as inspiration to create a work of art that is distinguished and unique.
The beauty of light and shadow from the tree shades against the green landscape, comprising vegetation that covers still, serene water, creating a sense of freshness.
The light and shadow reflect the beauty and tranquility of nature, employing intricate details that encourage the viewers to contemplate the intrinsic beauty of nature. Having observed the changes in nature, the artist realizes the impermanence that exists.
Light, Shadow and Reflection No.9 is created through a woodcut technique, using dark colors to create shadows to bring forth realistic images.
Combining woodcut and stamping techniques, the artist is able to accentuate small details and texture of green vegetation on the water in the picture. With an addition of shadows from the trees, the picture becomes more alive.
This artwork truly symbolizes the unshakable beauty of abundant nature, its surroundings, and its ever-changing state.
