Yvonne Schichtel is a recent graduate from Cornell University holding a degree in Fashion Design with honors. Her latest work focuses on beauty sans the male gaze, developed around a new method of sustainable design in which everything has the potential to be deemed valuable.

'Lost and Found' addresses the objects of power and ownership in relation to gender. It questions how we view the value of objects and subsequently attach meaning.

Following the journey of a woman gone mad, she turns her meaningless, gendered, utilitarian based tools into jewellery. By elevating the value of such objects she thereby elevates her own.
The collection was developed based around the design philosophy that everything has the potential to be valuable.

All material utilised was sourced from second-hand stores, deadstock, and random trinkets passed down through generations. To wear an object on the body is to embed it with value.
Research focus considers the historical bearings of chatelaines, the 1960’s Youthquake Movement, and the Dadaist philosophy.
