These outfits were designed by Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett of Australian fashion label Romance Was Born for their summer 2012-2013 collection titled Beserkergang. After they were shown at Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week, the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences acquired them as part of its world-class fashion collection.

Plunkett and Sales enlisted paper engineer, Benja Harney, to create a backdrop for their 2012 show. Harney had previously made spectacular paper wings for the Sydney store windows of fashion label, Hermès.

The creative theming used by Plunkett and Sales in their 2012 show creates both spectacle and a coherent collection narrative.
This collection particularly caught the attention of media and buyers who felt the designers had successfully translated their offbeat creativity into a strong commercial collection.
