Weaving community
For the women of Malinalco, the rebozo shawl was a tool: carrying a baby, collecting firewood, running errands. Camelia Ramos Zamora turned it into a symbol of dignity and family sustenance.

The fringe: art in the hands of women
The fringe, the artistic edges of the shawl, was traditionally considered women's art. Weeks of meticulous work and infinite patience that crowns each piece with mastery.

A eureka moment
Camelia realized that shawls could be much more than something utilitarian; they were art and should be treated as such.
More than 60 women weaving futures
Today, more than 60 women from Malinalco work from their homes through the Xoxopastli workshop. Each handmade fringe provides sustenance for the families of Malinalco.
Education woven from cotton
Even the weavers' children have learned the art from their mothers, knowledge that they have used to pay for their university education. The art of the fringe finances futures, transforms destinies, and builds real opportunities.

The heart of the workshop
The kitchen is front and center in the Xoxopastli workshop. It is the meeting point where cooking happens, where sharing takes place, and where the table is opened up to those who seek to learn the art of the fringe, thus giving new life to the tradition of the shawl.

Community and teaching space
Xoxopastli is more than a workshop: it is a school, a sanctuary, a shared home. Amid the aromas of traditional food and looms, a craft that provides autonomy and unites the community is taught.

From family legacy to community legacy
What Isaac Ramos started as a family refuge, Camelia Ramos Zamora expanded into a community network. The Xoxopastli workshop is now the textile hub of Malinalco, thrumming with 60 voices.
