Jakarta Textile Museum is located on a heritage building built in 19th century. During 1945 revolution, the building was once a base camp for the first organized nation army.

The museum started with 500 pieces of textiles in its collection which today have grown into over 3000 in collection. The museum mainly collects traditional textiles from all over Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua.

The museum utilizes its courtyard garden as educational garden for natural dye plants that can be found throughout Indonesia.
