Like many artists of fine art, Panjarat Polpluek is in relentless pursuit of a way to capture and represent beauty and perfection. In the pursuit, she has discovered a distinctive way that profoundly conveys the value of art .
The artist masterfully controls every drop of colour to be in the same direction by means of gravitational force. Her perfect use of colour is able to create dimensions and shapes to perfectly convey intended messages.
One of the astonishing points is the technique used to properly control a degree of colour liquidness. She uses various tones of colour, both hot and cool, which are both vivid and different.
The flows of colour does not mix all colours together, but help control each colour to be in proper areas. Upon closer inspection, each colour is not mingled with each other.
Viewed from a far distance, each colour scattering throughout the picture exerts an impact on a way in which the picture is perceived. Our eyes deceive us that all these colours are mingled. In reality, the artist does not mix colours together.
Each colour is placed in a way that it creates exquisite patterns according to gravitational force.
Seen from a longer distance, we see a picture of a young female’s face with skin colour strikingly similar to the natural colour skin of humans.
One of the special features about the work is the fact that it creates different experiences. Distance determines how the picture is perceived or experienced.
Apart from her terrific colour and perception techniques, the artist brings to the centre stage and challenges the norm regarding beauty.
The inspiration of this picture comes from fashion magazines which, the artist believes, present and reproduce only one- dimensional beauty standard.
The artist deconstructs this normative representation of beauty and challenges our familiarity with the beauty as represented in the faces of fashion models.
She creates a new face with imperfections, aberrations and peculiarities. This deviation from the normative beauty standard is presented through her individual language and technique of fine art.
The imperfection and the representation of different perspectives is part of a quest to find and redefine a new beauty standard. In this journey, she has discovered beauty filled with rhythm, colour and distinctiveness.
This artwork is a part of Silpakorn Art Collections, which are award-winning works from the National Exhibition of Art and Exhibition of Contemporary Art by Young Artists. They are under the care and the management of Art Centre Silpakorn University.
