Moving Capitals - Sustainable architecture
Designed by Michelle Gouw, 'Moving Capitals' won the Architecture Category in the Global Design Graduate Show in collaboration with Gucci 2021.
The urban hubs are visioned to be “hovering” city above the tropical forest of Kalimantan.

The urban developments are designed to promote food production and renewable energy offset through the architectural features. The city module promotes walkability and community resilience in the heart of Borneo.
The building slabs are elevated 30-50m from ground level, supported by compact building core and slender stilts branching out following the context terrain.
Due to climate change Indonesian government has decided to move the capital to a new-build city on Borneo. This project looks at new building typology for the new capital aims to minimise the negative ecological impact of the development.
