he closest airport is in the picturesque city of Nalchik. In the center of Nalchik is Khychinnaya Street, which is officially called Keshokova Street, formerly Sovetskaya Street. Everyone calls it by its popular name, however.
This is because here, in one of the countless khychinnayas, you can find any kind of khychin – the main national Kabardian and Karachay pirog – and fall in love with the cuisine of the Northern Caucasus forever.

Derbent
Officially, Derbent is 2000 years old – unofficially it is 5000. The most surprising thing about these numbers is that there are sites preserved here of approximately the same age. The citadel of Naryn-Kala is the oldest fort not only in Derbent, but in the entire country. Established by the Persians in 438, it is the first place to stop in this city, but far from the last.
