Who are The Three Sisters?

Maize, squash and beans were traditionally grown together in a combination known as the Three Sisters.

The three plants complement each other as crops and as harvest. Squash plants grow low to the ground and protect the roots of the crop.

Maize plants grow straight up and provide support for the beans to grow up and around.
