The following gallery consists of paintings and drawings of Christ from the time he was an infant all the way until his death and resurrection.
Adoration of the Shepherds, Bernardo Strozzi, ca. 1615 (Baroque), From the collection of: The Walters Art Museum
This painting shows the birth of Christ and the Shepherds seeing their Lord and savior for the first time. The painting is soft and calming much like Christ's birth.
Christ Blessing Little Children, Richard Cosway, 1742–1821, British, undated, From the collection of: Yale Center for British Art
Here is a sketch of Christ calling the children over to him and blessing them. I thought that this sketch was very appropriate because it is something that isn't seen as much in art, yet it is a very common Biblical story.
Christ Carrying his Cross, Spanish, c.1650s-60s, From the collection of: Dulwich Picture Gallery
Here is a painting of Christ carrying the cross. This painting is where the mood in the gallery changes because this painting evokes great sadness and so will the next two pieces as well.
Here are people mourning over Christ's dead body, including Mary.
The Resurrection of Christ, Alonso López de Herrera, ca. 1625, From the collection of: Museo Nacional de Arte
Once again, this painting changes the mood of the gallery and shows Christ's resurrection. With this happier mood, as it says in the Bible, "it is finished."
