E.E. Fairchild of Rochester, New York began producing games in the early 20th century. Respected today for those early high quality and unusual subject board games, Fairchild soon branched out into toys and playing cards as well. Additionally, the firm began jigsaw puzzle production soon after the second great American craze for jigsaw puzzles in 1933. Fairchild became one of many makers of cardboard jigsaw puzzles through most of the rest of the 20th century. During the last few years of operation, it specialized in puzzle production alone.
