Ceiling Execution Chamber (Supplemental)

The personification of Hercules is portrayed with a club and a lion skin, the head of which rests on his own. The accompanying putto appears to be pointing the way. The building contains several depictions of Hercules/Strength, symbolising the vigour of Amsterdam’s civic administration.
