View of the "Design: Vignelli" exhibition, Benetton Galleries, Vignelli Center for Design Studies, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York, United States. The "Design: Vignelli" exhibition opened in 2010 at the Vignelli Center for Design Studies, which is also home to their entire professional archives. The exhibition mirrors the "Design: Vignelli" exhibition which toured nine countries between 1989-1993. As with the previous iteration, Lella Vignelli and Massimo Vignelli designed the displays, wrote the descriptive text, and curated the artifacts for the exhibition. It is the last exhibition designed by the Vignellis that is still open to the public.

Text from design: Vignelli exhibition label:
Corporate Identity Programs: A corporate identity program's main objective is the coordination of all visual aspects related to a company in order to present a strongly identifiable image and position in the economic and social world in which they function. This involves the articulation of a company's culture, which will generate and determine the quality of everything from products to packaging, printed communication to point of sale display.

Book, Magazine, and Newspaper Design:
We strongly believe in the permanence of the printed word as a witness to the culture of our time. Words and images interact to create feelings, to expand our perception, and to enrich our knowledge. Books are not static objects but cinematic entities, perceived by turning the pages. To design a book or a magazine means to control the emotions of the reader by manipulating the visual content, pacing the images, playing with the white space, choosing the most appropriate typeface ad size, and scaling the pictures to obtain the desired effect. The choice of paper, inks, printing method, binding technique, and materials plays a vital role in carrying the desired expression.

To design newspapers is mostly to organize their page, from editorial to printing. A particular grid should be devised to simplify the operation, create standards, minimize errors, and speed up the layout, as well as the whole production process. On top of that, identity and appropriateness are of paramount importance.
