Soon after the Tachibana army of the Yanagawa domain came back to Yanagawa after the defeat in the Battle of Sekigahara, the Nabeshima army of the Saga domain declared battle against the Tachibana army, and the battle started in Egami (modern Kurume City).
During the battle, the Lord Muneshige, who stayed in the Yanagawa-jo Catsle, heard a news that a messenger was on his way to Yanagawa with a letter from the victorious side of the Battle of Sekigahara for sparing of Muneshige and his brother’s lives.
This letter was sent from the Lord Muneshige informing this news to his vassal, Sanzaemon, who was on the battlefield of Egami.
