In 1975, seventh-grader Douglas Mayne constructed a model of New York's famous George Washington Bridge out of toothpicks. Mayne made the model for a school project, and his proud parents stored the model for many years afterwards. Mayne went on to study architecture and eventually became an architect. So his "pick" project proved prophetic.
