St. Anthony is depicted wearing a brown habit of his Franciscan order along with the collar that extends back to form the hood and the long cord belt with its three knots symbolising chastity, poverty and obedience to the rule hanging down at the side. Besides this, he is represented with a closed book held in his left hand, upon which he supports the Child seated with hand raised in blessing.
