St. Francis Xavier

Veneration of saints - individuals recognised as especially virtuous and holy - has been of critical importance in Christian worship. A great deal of Christian art features representations of saints. They are usually depicted with one or more attributes that are characteristic to the saint. Churches and even villages, towns, cities are often dedicated to one or more saints. Images of saints can be found in Catholic churches and homes throughout the world.
