The epitaph, carved in bas-relief in a slab of alabaster and dated around 1560, is bordered with a decorative frame, below which there is an inscription and portraits of its kneeling founders, painted in 1635. The stone, decorated with the scene of the Resurrection, originated from the vicinity of Mechelen in the Netherlands, where the local workshops specialised in this type of bas-relief and which arrived to Silesia in the 1550s. This small work – with its astonishingly detailed rendition and dynamism – became a model and inspiration for sculptors working in Wrocław.
