Athos Bulcão: Tiles from Brasilia

Athos Bulcão, a “carioca” from Catete and from Brasilia by choice, found in the tilery art his reatest artistic expression. The recovery of the façade tile, which coincides with the renewal of the Brazilian architecture started in the 1930s, has in Oscar Niemeyer one of its main renewers. He saw the tile as a modular composition, on industrial scale; with Athos, his most frequent collaborator, this integrated artreaches its highest level in Brasília. Curator Rafaella Tamm
