The University of Malta is at the forefront of deep-water archaeology and has pioneered the first diver led excavation beyond 100 meters. The Phoenician Shipwreck Project is focused on the exploration of a shipwreck discovered on the seabed in 2007. Results from the project are shedding light on archaic trade networks in the Mediterranean.
