PianoPadiglione Italia Expo Milano 2015
Music Nursery was a project supported and organized by the Italy Pavilion to promote young Italian musicians studying at the Conservatories as well as the regional choirs from all over Italy who, each day, animated Expo Milano 2015.
Nursery Talents
It was divided into three different initiatives. The first was called “ Nursery Talents, the season of Conservatoires at Palazzo Italia”, stemming out from a collaboration among the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Conference of Conservatoires’ Directors and the Italy Pavilion. Over 300 young Italian and international musicians coming from 41 Conservatoires and Music national Institutes took the stage in the Palazzo Italia’s Performance Area, animating the great atmosphere of the Pavilion with a program inspired by the Italian music excellences and traditions.

The repertoire ranged from the classical violins to the clear voices of opera singers, from jazz virtuosity to the modern atmospheres of pop-rock.

Nursery Voices
The second initiative, Nursery Voices, saw regional choirs as protagonists, which represented music and traditions from all the Italian territories. 700 choristers sang in the Performance Area of Palazzo Italia, realising 120 concerts that proposed a repertoire ranging from religious and popular songs from every Italian regions.

The IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music) and the Feniarco (Italian Federation of Choral Music) were in charge of the Art Direction, while the Associazione Musical Jubilate was in charge of the organisation, supported by the Italy Pavilion.
Feeding Music
"Feeding Music" was an international composition contest announced by the Italy Pavilion and realized thanks to the Italy Pavilion - Expo 2015, the Municipality of Milan and MITO SettembreMusica, in collaboration with the Divertimento Ensemble and Sentieri Selvaggi. Throughout 18 evenings, the event provided a space for young composers from all over the world.
An international jury selected 46 over 600 candidates and asked them to compose a new score inspired by the theme of EXPO 2015 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'. The songs were performed by Divertimento Ensemble and Sentieri Selvaggi, two accomplished ensembles of Milan who had collaborated with major international composers.
