How Do You 3D Print Scars?

The process of creation, modeling, printing and finishing the statues of CICATRICI

Cicatrici was first of all a beautiful journey of wonderful encounters, to discover a new world. Together, B.LIVE and + LAB, we explored the folds of the soul, making them three-dimensional, visible and tangible. We reasoned about beauty imperfection, rediscovering them as sisters and friends, united, sometimes, by the We looked at the stigma in the face, overcoming it.

Indeed not a single stigma. But two.

On the one hand we looked at that of technology, often perceived as cold, self-referential, when not grim and on the other that of disease, a sign and scar that, although invisible, too often modifies and deforms the perception of our neighbor, especially when the meeting forces us to face the thought of pain and death.

Both people from B.LIVE and those of +LAB are the bridge between two different and complex worlds, which have talked to each other and with us, have come together, and with determination they have brought us this far.

Four kilos of plastic, one and a half kilometers of filaments, more than a thousand hours of modeling, and over seven hundred of 3D printing. Figures that alone return the amount of commitment and the amount of work that made it possible to materialize the thought of the forty-two people who decided to share this path.

But at the same time, figures that tell nothing of the beauty and pride of being able to put technology available once more, at the service of emotions.

"Can this be done?" they all asked. “Sure you can. Don't limit yourself, tell me what you imagine and together let's see how to do it ”replied Giuditta during the reviews, because our much loved 3D printing has allowed everyone to fly high with their imagination. She is the great technological protagonist thanks to which we have been able to give life to our ideas, shape our pains and color our emotions.

Cicatrici is a reading of personal drawings, a praise to the beauty and uniqueness of our experiences. It is the details that make these works unique and looking at them we seem to see the author in the face, as if a part of himself was imprinted in each one.

It was great satisfaction to see some of the boys work on their own model and digitally sculpt their ideas, eliminating the interpretation of the third person, thus making them even more original.

But the greatest joy was that of being able to catch the looks and expressions of everyone in front of their works, all so different, but all so similar, and close.

Each of the sculptures is memorable for the intensity of the emotions it brings with it, for the confidence and responsibility, for the thoughts. And for the smiles.
