VIBRATORY MESSAGES GENERATED BY TETHERED BEES

With an interest in the communal experience that an artwork can invite, we would like this mural to explore a world of imagination where the public can establish meaning around parallels within reality. Our love of scientific illustrations mixed with the fantastic brought forth this mural design. This mural suggests the biological within an orchestrated scene in an effort to blend beliefs surrounding the study of life and illusion. Through this mural we seek produce something visually striking, colorful, and unique for Oklahoma City.  Our ultimate intent is to create a sense of wonder in the viewer as wonder is described as intellectual passion and is often the catalyst for further study. 

As the Director of smART Space at Science Museum Oklahoma, Scott Henderson’s goal is to educate the community about the symbiotic relationship between the arts and sciences. His formal art training was acquired at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has been shown in many group and solo exhibitions around Oklahoma City and abroad. His works are included in important private, public and corporate collections. He mainly works in collage and mixed media with a focus on fantastic themes in correlation with self-­‐identity. With a raw collage style and a painterly approach his art presents new ways of looking at the world in relation to the graphic realm we are invariably surrounded by. Scott Henderson has been creating and working in the field of public art/mural painting for more that 14 years. During this time Scott has been involved and managed many important mural projects in the state of Oklahoma and abroad. Scott also maintains and runs his own mural business SCH Murals. Securing important commissions including Deer Creek Public Schools/Flintco, Fowler Volkswagen, and the STA Travel headquarters in Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Science Museum Oklahoma. 

“I make paintings that observe the grey area between representation and non-­‐representation in art. I use a photorealistic approach in my process to create imagery that could be read as either abstract or nonrepresentational depending on the interpretation of the viewer.” Bennett Stookey is and Oklahoma born artist and current resident who works with a variety of mediums to achieve a final image that is accomplished in oil paint. Currently Bennett is working towards his BFA at the University of Central Oklahoma, and in the past has been awarded for Excellence in Art and Design at the UCO Gala Awards in 2013. He has worked as a teaching artist for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, as well as displayed work at the Momentum 2014 show at the Oklahoma City Farmer’s Market. Bennett has displayed work in a collaborative show with artist and friend: Amy Erickson. The show was entitled Faerie Trance, and took place on May 15, 2015 at Wishbone Gallery and Supply (109 N Littler Ave, Edmond, OK 73034) He lives and works in Edmond Oklahoma.
