This vibrant mural includes amazing sculptural elements, and was sponsored by Google in 2015. Lead artist Nick Bayer works with sculptural elements frequently and he worked with his co-artists James Clark and Sam Douglas to create an amazing piece of work. This is the first and currently only 3D mural in Oklahoma City, located on the south wall of the Diane Lee Building at NW 71st Street and N. Western Avenue.
WILDERNESS ON WESTERN
The Wilderness on Western mural tells the story of the diversity and fragility of Oklahoma’s wildlife. The mural highlights just some of the endangered species that call Oklahoma home as well as showcasing a wide array of animals that inhabit the many geographically diverse environments of Oklahoma. The mural visually flows across the wall incorporating colors often associated with nature. The wall will also contain a few reliefed animals to add interest made out of polyuria coated EPS foam. The wall will be painted with an exterior acrylic paint and the animal forms will be painted in vibrant colors. We hope that the mural brings awareness and pride to the people of Oklahoma and becomes one of many wonderful murals in the Western business district.

JAMES CLARK
I am a backpacker and a traveler. Whatever my hands can create I try, mostly I fail but every now and again something special for me happens. My work ranges from sculpture, pen and ink, acrylic and aerosol from time to time. I admire the process of creating more than any outcome. During my college career at Oklahoma State University I pursued sculpture, usually taking an important image or icon from the past, be it a three dimensional arch, or painting, and breaking it down transforming the image into something more organic and approachable. Over the last 8 years I’ve been exploring color and composition. I am currently living Oklahoma City and looking forward to any opportunities to continue creating.
