The Festival

Music, dance, cinema, poetry, theatre, exhibitions, and workshops. This is how Convergências Portugal-Galiza festival highlights and integrates Portuguese language affinities between the two cultures – Portuguese and Galician –, in the different forms of artistic expression

The ninth edition of the festival took place between the 10th and 25th of February 2023 in the cities of Braga (Portugal), Ponteareas and Santiago de Compostela (Spain)

During the programme, Noite de Fado Convergente involved the Galician singer Iria Estévez

And with the Portuguese fado singer, Tiago Correia and the musicians, Artur Caldeira and Daniel Paredes

Fado is one of the most traditional music styles, specially in Portugal. It is usually sung by just one person, the fado singer, who is accompanied by a Portuguese guitar and a classical guitar

The festival also had a workshop on the ukulele and viola braguesa instruments

The presentation took place at the University of Minho, in Braga, with the participation of the Portuguese musician Daniel Pereira Cristo

Convergências Portugal-Galiza festival is an event organized by Canto D´Aqui group, in partnership with Centro de Estudos Galegos of the University of Minho 

and has the support of the Municipality of Braga, the Xunta de Galicia and the Lúcio Craveiro Library, and also involving around 15 institutions from Portugal and Galicia
