Optimise Prime, the electric vehicle trial
To do this, different parts of Hitachi are working together with Uber, Centrica, Royal Mail, UK Power Networks and SSEN to better understand fleet usage and the charging habits of electric vehicle fleets. Up to 3,000 electric vehicles are taking part of Optimise Prime.

Saving the Water Network in Oliena
In 2016, Abbanoa S.p.A and Hitachi, with the support of the council of Oliena, undertook a project to reduce leakages, increasing the efficiency of its water supply. It reduced water loss by over 50% and 'Oliena model' is now on a list of Italian Best Practices for 2017.
Battery trains speed towards net zero emissions
Electrifying diesel train lines is time consuming and expensive, so Hitachi is developing battery and hybrid trains as an alternative. The trains are ‘tri-mode’, able to switch seamlessly between diesel power, overhead electric power, or battery power alone.

Trains towards Net Zero
This will help cut emissions and pollution in stations, cities and beyond, helping countries reach Net Zero C02 faster. The trains could run on battery power alone for 100 km and fast charging solutions. As battery and charging technology develops their range will only grow.
